Resurrection Life: Living in the Already, Not Yet…

So Lazarus got to live, twice. He got to experience in real time what we, as believers think that we have to wait to enjoy…Resurrection Life!

We can ask a million whys, like:

Why did he get to?

Why not everyone who followed him during Jesus’ brief earthly stay?

Why did Jesus wait ‘til he stank?

But truthfully, I don’t think those who saw Lazarus come out of his stinky tomb were asking any of that. I think they were simply reveling in resurrection life. Having witnessed such an amazing real life demonstration of God’s power, it would be foolish to doubt the reality of it, to hang on to some weird idea that Lazarus’ was still dead. Jesus said,

“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he will live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25-26

As a type for the church today, allow Lazarus’ story to sink down deep and allow the reality of Resurrection Life hit you front and center. Jesus died that we would have life. Resurrection life. Abundant life. (John 10:10) Let that blast out any dark places in your heart, the hurts, the supposed weaknesses, the sin that leads to death.

Let go of any sin that entangles you, (Hebrews 12:12) that is black-marking your perfect, redeemed heart. Let it Go!  ...That His light might shine through. Embrace His love for you, His Resurrection.

‘Do you believe this?’

….Then, ‘Come Forth!’ (John 11:43) from your stinky tomb and ‘Go into all the world…(Mark 16:15) Shine forth His light to a dying world so that all who witness it might also believe. A world that desperately needs to see the evidence of Jesus, the resurrection and the life living in us…

…..Because if they do, like the friends of Lazarus, they will never again be the same.

        …Already…but not yet….
